Few things are more important to a social network than people adding content. But Ning’s old text editor was very basic, and often buggy. So, we designed a new one — taking the very popular TinyMCE text editor, and customizing it for Ning sites, similar to what WordPress has done.

The initial release was very difficult, as we switched all users over to the new editor immediately, and only then discovered the new editor still had a slew of bugs. But instead of backing down and allowing users to have two different editors, we dug in and I worked with customers to identify and prioritize all bugs and requests, and worked with developers to fix them.
